D. James Weis
Rhinelander Personal Injury Attorney
Jim Weis is a shareholder of the law firm. He manages the Rhinelander, Stevens Point and Wausau offices. Mr. Weis handles all personal injury claims, including automobile accidents, products liability, medical negligence, landowner liability, fall cases, dog bite and animal injuries, farming accidents, pharmacy and nursing home claims. He is licensed in both Wisconsin and Michigan and has been involved in cases throughout the United States.
Jim received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1977 and his law degree from Marquette University in 1980. He participated on the mock trial and moot court teams at Marquette University Law School and was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Distinguished Achievement Award for his performance on those teams.
Jim has served in a variety of capacities with professional organizations. He has held all of the offices with the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers including the presidency of that organization in 1992. He served on the American Association of Justice Board of Directors in 2003. He was elected to and served on the Wisconsin Judicial Council for a three-year term, an organization of judges, law professors and lawyers designed to, among other things, provide recommendations to the Supreme Court with respect to the justice system.
He has been elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American College of Trial Advocates. He has been named for many years in the "Best Lawyers in America" and has been named as a "Super Lawyer" by the organization that, through surveys of lawyers, identifies those considered to be in the top 5% of their profession. The National Board of Trial Advocacy has certified him for many years as a Civil Trial Specialist.
Jim is a frequent lecturer and author on topics relating to personal injury law and has authored numerous amicus (friend of the Court) briefs before the Wisconsin Supreme Court on behalf of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Jim is married to his wife Debi and has three grown children. He lives in northern Wisconsin and, in his spare time, enjoys all things outdoors.
