Ronni Boyce, a single mother, was treated at Missoula for a broken pelvis, a dislocated and broken elbow, and lower back injuries. The bone around her elbow was deemed unsalvageable, requiring the use of an implant and costing her 45 degrees of elbow movement.

The lawsuit asked for about $75,000 in medical expenses and $4 million for pain and suffering and named Diamond Horseshoe Inc. and Bert Schultz, the owner of DHI’s property, as defendants. The jury found both parties negligent, but only Schultz was found responsible for Boyce’s injuries, resulting in the $750,000 judgement.

A police investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of a three-vehicle accident on Highway 30 in Oregon Sunday morning which left one man dead and three other people critically injured. The initial conclusion states that a Chevrolet Lumina suddenly swerved into an adjoining lane of traffic and collided with a Mazda Miata. A Dodge Neon driving just behind the Miata could not avoid crashing into it as well. Randall Haak, the driver of the Miata, and Rebecca Haak, his passenger, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The passenger in the Lumina, Vickie Alfonso, was also hospitalized. The driver of the Lumina, Stephen Wilkins, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither he nor Vickie were wearing seat belts.

By Monday night, more than 9 inches of snow had fallen in the Western portion of Wisconsin. This snow caused slippery roads which resulted in a 20-car pile-up.

Interstate 90, near the Wisconsin and Minnesota boarder, was the site of the 20-vehicle pile-up. It all started when one vehicle lost control on the icy roads and 19 other vehicles tried to avoid the original car. Despite there being 20 cars involved, only one person was injured. The police would not comment on the one person’s condition.

In addition to the 20-car pile up, there were numerous fender benders, slide offs, and spin outs reported as well.
