Man is finally Charged For ’03 Crash

Posted on Monday, December 22nd, 2008 at 3:12 am

It may have been a while, but the family of Benjamin Westerman has not forgotten.  Now almost six years later, the man who killed their son, William J. Shroeder, is finally being charged with the death of his friend.

It was a tragic car accident like so many others that occur around our nation during the July 4th celebrations, a young man killed because someone decided to drink and drive. Shroeder was drunk when he veered off the road at about 100mph.  Although it sounds like an open and shut case, it has taken six years for charges to finally be pressed.  He will be charged with a felony in homicide by reckless operation of a car. HE faces up to ten years in prison with a fine of $25,000.

Winter Storms Take Toll on Drivers

Posted on Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 2:12 am

Wisconsin is no stranger to dangerous winter storms or  poor driving conditions, but every year people seem to forget how to safely driver on the roads. On Wednesday, the winter storm that hi Wausau caught many people off guard.  The Marathon County police department had over 80 calls about car accidents and pile ups on local roads.

For one unlucky state trooper, a woman lost control of her vehicle and slid off the road, into the police car.  Neither the woman nor Trooper Bob Fochs were hurt in the accident, though both cars suffered some damage.

Further up the road another accident occurred between two tractor-trailers, both of which jackknifed on the road and blocked traffic for some time.

Man killed in North Oak Cliff

Posted on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 at 5:12 am

On Tuesday, a 20 year old man was killed in North Oak Cliff.  The accident was a two car collision along the 35E Interstate service road. The man was taken to Methodist Central Hospital and doctors pronounced him dead at 4:30 in the morning.

The man who was killed had a passenger in his vehicle but no information on his condition has yet been released.  However, police say that no one else was injured, though one person, presumably the man who died, was thrown into the roadway during the accident.

Investigators are still trying to find out the cause of the accident and say they will release more information when they get it.
