A woman has recently been awarded $6.7 million in a medical malpractice lawsuit after the death of her husband in 2005.

The incident began when the man was involved in an ATV accident on Mother's Day. He was rushed by helicopter to the hospital to be treated. A CT scan showed that he had internal bleeding and that he had broken multiple different bones.

Eight of the nine jurors in the case agreed that the physicians failed to care for the man appropriately and did not follow up on the signs of internal bleeding. After 36 hours of being in the hospital, the man's lungs collapsed due to the bleeding. Without oxygen, he suffered a massive heart attack that took his life. The family's representation stated that the use of a chest tube to eliminate the fluid would have saved the man's life.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim.
