The family of a man that killed himself while in Wood County jail has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the county.
The lawsuit claims that the county failed to follow the supervision obligations that are owed to the inmates in jail and this resulted in his death.
Court records show that the man hanged himself in 2008 on the day after he was sentenced to a year in jail for possession of child pornography. He was pronounced dead at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital the next day. The family is asking for an unspecific amount of damages.
