Planes being used to prevent fires from starting in dry areas

Officials from the Department of Natural Resources have said that planes are being sent to northwest Wisconsin in order to keep an extra eye out for signs of wildfires in the area.

Officials have stated that if a fire does start,  they have concerns that it could be disasterous. Polk, Washburn and Burnet counties all have a burn ban in affect so that no outside fires will be started, but just in case something happens, the DNR wants to be prepared.

The view form 2,800 feet in the air will make is easier to see if any smoke appears and give fire crews more time to get the scene before the fire spreads even more.
