The Maryland parents of a 17-year-old girl, who died after wisdom tooth surgery, are suing the oral surgeon and anesthesiologist associated with the procedure.
The teenager died from complications of hypoxia, which occurs when not enough oxygen is distributed to an individual while under anesthesia. The surgery happened on March 28 and within 10 days she had fallen into a coma and passed away.
While under anesthesia, the girl’s heart rate plummeted and her blood oxygen levels decreased. The parents are claiming negligence on behalf of the doctors involved in the medical malpractice lawsuit because they missed warning signs during the surgery that could have saved the teenager’s life.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends during this hard time.
