A seven year-old boy from Tomah returned home this week after spending four days in the hospital following a vicious pit bull attack. The boy was in his driveway when a stray pit bull approached him and latched on to his neck.
A friend rushed to tell the boy’s mother, who came outside to see her son in a pool of blood. After fighting the dog off, the boy was taken to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center where he received more than 100 stitches and staples to his head, neck, and arms.
Neighbors say the dog often roams the neighborhood and that some people feed it. The pit bull has been captured and euthanized.
