One death and two serious injuries have prompted the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Wal-Mart Stores, and Toys R Us, Inc., to recall about 21,000 inflatable in-ground pool Banzai slides. The slides may become deflated when in use, posing a serious risk of injury.
A 29-year-old mother died after the slide deflated while she was using it, causing her to hit her neck on the concrete edge of the pool. A man was injured in a similar way and became a quadriplegic, and another woman fractured her neck.
The slides were sold in Wal-Mart and Toys R Us stores nationwide between January 2005 and June 2009. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to the nearest Wal-Mart or Toys R Us for a full refund.
