Crane accident kills Green Bay man, injures another

Posted under Rhinelander construction accident lawyers

A 35-year-old man lost his life in a construction accident last Thursday when a crane working on the expansion of U.S. Highway 41’s Butte des Morts bridge collapsed.

The crane was lifting a 52-ton girder onto the bridge as part of an expansion meant to double the bridge’s capacity from four lanes to eight lanes. The crane’s operator was seriously injured in the accident.

In the wake of the accident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has sent investigators to look for negligence or safety violations that could have caused this tragic turn of events.

This is the second fatal construction accident tied to the current expansion of U.S. Highway 41. Our condolences go out to the families of those who have suffered untimely deaths while working to improve their country’s infrastructure.
