A 400-pound Detroit woman has died of obesity and other injuries after being neglected in her bed by her primary caretaker, her husband.
The woman suffered a crushed pelvis and ruptured bladder in a car accident last year. She was found dead in her bed surrounded by her own waste.
The couple’s four children are in the care of another relative while their father faces charges of second-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult.
When a loved one’s death is completely preventable and occurs as a result of extreme carelessness, there is a chance that a wrongful death lawsuit can be an appropriate way to seek compensation for funeral expenses and other financial hardships that may arise.
