Wisconsin construction company awarded for safety procedures

Riley Construction has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin for their safety procedures during construction projects.

The 2010 Safety Excellence Award was given to Riley Construction after they met the requirement of clocking more than 4,000 work hours and had no  fatalities.

They also averaged less than 75 percent of the national average of construction injuries. The Milwaukee Construction Industry Safety Council presented the safety award for the firm's history of high safety standards on their worksites.

One killed, three injured in Wisconsin construction accident

One man was killed and three others were injured in a construction accident at the EOG Resources Inc. sand plant in Chippewa, Wis.

According to the police department, the accident occurred when the 36-year-old man was standing on top of a cement wall and it collapsed on top of him. The man was killed from the injuries that were sustained to his head and chest in the accident.

Three other people were injured in the accident, but the extent of their injuries are unknown at this point. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating to find the cause of the accident.

Man killed after falling 30 feet from scaffold

An electrical worker from Appleton was killed and a co-worker injured
after they fell 30 feet from a  scaffolding at a Howard paper company.

The
41-year-old man that was killed in the accident worked at Faith
Technologies of Menasha. The two workers fell from a scissor-type
scaffolding while working at Hattiesburg Paper Co. At the time of the
accident, the men were performing routine electrical maintenance.

One
man was killed and the other is currently recovering in the hospital.
The incident is currently under investigation and the local and federal
division of OSHA will be looking into it. The plant is closed at this
time.

Wisconsin construction accident injures man

A 54-year-old man was injured in a Wisconsin construction accident last week.

The accident occurred as the man was driving a compacting machine and a piece of land near an excavated area collapsed. The man's machine then fell down the embankment and collapsed on top of him.

He was found trapped underneath the machine and was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, but he is currently listed in critical condition. The U.S. Occuaptional Safety and Health Adminstration is expected to do a full investigation into the incident.
