Parents Sue Driver, Owner in Fatal Car Crash

by Administrator 7. February 2008 10:02
The parents of Matthew Lopez, who died in a high-speed alcohol-related crash last year, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the car, Candace Calvin, and the car's owner, John Cornell. They claim that Cornell ought to have known about Candace's record with alcohol and should not have allowed her to drive his car. Calvin, whose blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was nearly twice the legal limit, pleaded guilty in January to vehicular homicide and faces up to eight years in prison in addition to the current lawsuit, which seeks the cost of Lopez's funeral and burial, as well as compensation for psychological and emotional trauma caused by their son's death. If your loved one has been seriously injured or killed because of someone else's actions, you deserve justice.
