A large dog that weighed about 120 pounds, a bullmastiff, seriously injured a four year old girl at a church playground on Monday. According to Sheriff Tyler Roden, the girl’s injuries “were considered life threatening.”
The dog wandered into the playground area during the afternoon. It first bit the young girl’s ten year old sister but did not break the skin. After that, the dog attacked the four year old by pulling her off a swing and proceeding to attack her. Animal control and emergency personnel responded to the scene and the girl was airlifted to a hospital.
The dog was picked up and later euthanized. No charges have been filed against the dog’s owner yet but consultation with the District Attorney has been made about how to proceed with litigation.
