A government study finds that 90 percent of nursing homes have hired employees with a criminal record.
An investigation was done by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General as the sampled 260 nursing homes in the nation.
The analysis showed that, in 2009, nearly 92 percent of nursing homes employed at least one employee that had a criminal conviction and almost half employed five or more workers that had records. Some think that the current system for how criminal records are checked is the reason for the high percentage.
