Ford du Lac police officer gets citations for 2012 car accident

Thirty-two-year-old Fond du Lac County Sheriff in Wisconsin’s Deputy Ryan Flood has been charged with two traffic offenses, emergency vehicle operator failing to drive safely and speeding on Monday, March 31 in connection with a 2012 car accident that resulted in the death of a young man.

According to police investigations, Flood was on his way to an accident site on Sunny Road near the town of Eden from his location on Highway 41 north of County Trunk B when he suddenly hit a car driven by 20-year-old Matthew Koenigs at the intersection of County Trunks B and K.

Flood was penalized $326.50 for failing to drive safely and $225.70 for speeding by Fond du Lac County Court Judge Richard Nuss during his hearing at around 3:30 p.m.

Flood will also pay $14,000 to the Koenigs family. He and Fond du Lac County are also facing a civil suit filed by Koenigs’ family.
